Visual & Performing Arts

The arts are an integral part of our curriculum in Nursery through Grade 12.  In each and every year of a Doane Stuart student's experience, he or she is given the opportunity for self-expression and the skills to articulate artistic vision.

Students of all ages learn, simultaneously, the enjoyment of creative expression and the skills that can make that expression such a satisfying, life-long experience. Frequent gallery displays and recitals offer students the opportunity of presenting their art to the School community.  In the Upper School, careful attention is given by the faculty to the creation of substantial student portfolios for submission to college and university art departments.

In addition to creative art activities, students are encouraged to appreciate the arts of different ages and cultures.  Art history and music history expand our understanding of other disciplines, and enhance and deepen our own artistic expression.
