Early Childhood
Imagination, exploration, curiosity, discovery – a young child meets the world in many ways. And what better place to meet it than in a place steeped in a 150 year old tradition of educating and nurturing children of all ages.
"The joy of discovery," a cornerstone of Doane Stuart’s mission, is the focus for the young children who explore the world from the security of our warm, stimulating classrooms, with enthusiastic and loving teachers to guide and care for them. In our early childhood program, the natural curiosity and creativity of children is nourished through play and through varied experiences in French, music, art, and movement, taught by our talented “special area” teachers.
The young children who play and explore at Doane Stuart are the students who will demonstrate impressive critical thinking skills at seven. They are the children who will grow to have the confidence at ten to read fluently before two hundred adults and children. They are the children who, at the age of thirteen, will experience an understanding of a commitment to service to others. At seventeen, they will gain admission to our nation’s most selective colleges, ready for the challenges and triumphs of the college years, full of enthusiasm for the adventure that lies ahead.
