Haltermann '12 named one of WNYT TV's 13 Kids Who Care
For most, ski season is a chance to hit the slopes and relax. For Doane Stuart’s Tim Haltermann ’12, of Windham, it marks the beginning of his season of volunteerism. Tim is a ski racer and enthusiast. But Tim uses his talents to help others, as a volunteer with the Windham Adaptive Ski Program. He devotes part of each weekend to sharing his love of the sport with disabled children. The cause is important to Tim, and it is personal. His father, Bill Haltermann, is an amputee, and Tim is passionate about helping others overcome the same obstacles his father has known. Tim trains skiers for the Special Olympics and Paralympics. Thanks to Tim’s efforts, individuals who struggle to walk are learning how to race down a mountain. WNYT chose Tim as one of their 13 Kids Who Care for 2012, from nominees around the Region.
