Lower School students and teachers celebrated International Day of Peace on September 21 by participating in the art installation project “Pinwheels for Peace.” The students created and displayed their colorful pinwheels – decorated with drawings, paintings, collages, photographs and words of peace and harmony – in front of the Doane Stuart campus. They will sang a song together about world peace.
Pinwheels for Peace was started in 2005 by two Art teachers in Florida as a way for students to express their feelings about what’s going on in the world and in their lives. The project was quickly embraced and is now celebrated by millions around the world.
