Art teacher Jason Martinez's work to feature exclusive Annual Coaster Show at Gallery 30 South in Pasadena, CA.
Art teacher Jason Martinez has been selected to feature his work in the exclusive 7th Annual Coaster Show at Gallery 30 South in Pasadena, CA. The annual show draws submissions from around the world and is billed as “the high concept pinnacle of lowbrow art.” The exhibition features creations of four inch coasters by novice and established artists. Curator Matt Kennedy said this year’s show received more submissions and accepted fewer submissions than in any previous year. Comparing the exhibition to a show by Yoyoi Kusama or Damien Hirst, Kennedy said the event enables those in attendance to be transported beyond a pattern of circles and squares by a sense of wonder that “aggregates exponentially but remains accessible and egalitarian.” Online preview and viewing of the show begins Saturday, Sept. 21.
