The Doane Stuart School Boys Soccer Team ended its season on Monday evening with a 5-0 loss to Maple Hill. Despite the loss, the team finishes the season having won a first round sectional game two years in a row for the first time in Doane Stuart history.
Maple Hill entered Monday’s game Ranked #2 in C Division Section 2, and ranked #9 in New York. Doane Stuart Coach David Wells said the game was closer than the score indicates.
Doane Stuart entered Sectionals seeded #7 of #22 teams in the division, advancing after last week defeating #10 seed Cambridge 1-0.
The Doane Stuart School Boys Soccer team is comprised of players from both Doane Stuart and Rensselaer High School. Coach Wells said that the “future looks bright” for next year’s team as six of the Varsity starters this year were Sophomores. Doane Stuart ends the season with a 9-5-1 record overall. All six of the team’s Seniors shared the role of Team Captain. Seniors include, from Doane Stuart: Abe Gordon, Brian Ganeles and Sasha Holden. And, from Rensselaer: Kyaw Lwin, Eh Do Kyi, and Omar Garcia.
