Doane Stuart Appoints Interim Head of School

We have some great news to share today as we approach our 166th academic year.

The Doane Stuart School Board of Trustees is undertaking a national search for a new Head of School — a critical process that will take time as we seek the most qualified candidate. In the meantime, we are pleased to announce today that the Board of Trustees has selected an Interim Head of School for the 2018-19 school year — an outstanding candidate from within our Doane Stuart family.

Sharon M. Duker, who has served as a member of our Board of Trustees since 2005 and president since 2015, has accepted the position, with the full and enthusiastic support of the Board.

Sharon’s son graduated from Doane Stuart in 2005, and she and her family have been a part of the Doane Stuart community for 25 years. Her steady hand will help preserve our traditions and lead us forward as we provide unparalleled educational and experiential opportunities to our students.

Sharon earned a bachelor’s degree from Siena College, a master’s degree in education from The College of Saint Rose, and holds an initial New York State certification in business and marketing education for grades Pre-K – 12.

She has served in executive roles in several local firms and is an active civic leader, serving on the Boards of Albany Medical Center, The College of Saint Rose, Liv4TheCure, and the Bernard & Millie Children’s Foundation.

Sharon stepped down as president of the Board to accept her new responsibilities. The Trustees have chosen Vice President Ginna M. Roeding, Ph.D., to succeed her.

Please join us in thanking Sharon for her continuing service to Doane Stuart.
