Four Doane Stuart students received the rare opportunity to meet the two recipients of one of the nation’s most prestigious science awards, the Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research. As part of the event, our students were part of a select group chosen to ask the pioneering scientists about their careers and ground-breaking research.
The 2019 Albany Med Prize was awarded to Dr. Bert Vogelstein and Dr. Irving L. Weissman, two trailblazing scientists, whose discoveries in stem cell and cancer cell biology have led to innovative advances in fields ranging from oncology and immunology to cancer genomics and regenerative medicine.
The Albany Medical Center Prize was established in 2000 by the late Morris Silverman, a New York City businessman and philanthropist who grew up in Troy, NY, to honor scientists whose work has demonstrated significant outcomes that offer medical value of national or international importance.
