Lower and Middle School students welcomed special guests to their classrooms and performed in the Golub Interfaith Chapel for Doane Stuart’s annual Grandparents and Special Friends Day celebration.
Lucy Neidl ’28 delivered the opening prayer, followed by a welcome from Mrs. Clarke. Lower School students then performed “The Grandparents Day Song” and “Love Will Guide Us” for their special guests.
Following these performances, the Lower School shared their “A Special Alphabet for Grandparents” slide show, with pictures showing what they love about their grandparents and special friends. Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World” helped make this a very special presentation for our families.
Next, Middle Schoolers Derek DeSanto ’24, Alexis Miller ’23, Quinn Hapeman ’22 and Olakunsi Peters ’21 shared what they love and will remember most about their Grandparents and special friends. Olana Schillinger ’24 provided the final reflection of the ceremony with her closing prayer.
Following the Chapel, students invited their guests to their classrooms for activities and to see some of the work they have accomplished this year. At the end of the program, our visitors also had the chance to leave with a delicious homemade pie, courtesy of the Middle School fundraiser for their spring trip.
A special thank you to Jack Hassett ’20 for his superb piano playing during the Chapel’s prelude, processional and recessional, and to Mrs. Pflegl for her work with the Lower School choruses.
