Ben Halpert ’17 of Delmar will soon be competing at the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships. Making it to the Championships, held February 13-16 in Richmond, Virginia is the culmination of a year of hard work and determination. Halpert qualified by earning third place at the Men’s Sabre Cadet event, held at the Hudson Berkshire Junior Olympic Qualifiers at Vassar College in November.
Halpert continues to compete in numerous state and regional tournaments. In December he earned a “D” ranking from the USFA (United States Fencing Association). This classification (there are six from U, the lowest, to E, D, C, B, and the highest, A) is earned by placing in USFA sanctioned events.
