Congratulations to the Doane Stuart Mock Trialites, who fought their way to the Rensselaer County Championships for a second year in a row. The Mock Trial season, though shorter this year, saw DS earn victories over Columbia High School and Emma Willard. By winning their first two trials of the year, DS qualified for the County Semi-Finals, held last week. DS, competing as defense, was matched up against Columbia High School (prosecution) in a rematch of their previous trial. Our Mock Trialites competed valiantly: they cross-examined the witnesses, they objected and they delivered concise and persuasive closing arguments. In the end, they emerged victorious and will compete against Catholic Central, who beat La Salle in the other semi-final match up. Doane Stuart will be the prosecution and Catholic Central will be the defense.

The winner of Wednesday’s County Championship will then advance to the Northeastern NY Regional Tournament. Doane Stuart made it to final round of the Northeast New York regional last year, but ultimately lost to Potsdam Central School District, who themselves were runners up for the state title.
